After experimenting with video last year we thought it would be good to go away for a weekend and film it. So with a Sony 8mm video camera in hand we set off for our adventure. At this time we weren't thinking of more than a night away, and so it had to be somewhere that was fairly near to us. Cromer in Norfolk was only a couple of hours drive or so away from Nottingham so Cromer it was. All the pics you see on the right are vidcaps from the original footage.

In those days nobody had any money (some of us still haven't!) which meant going camping, and finding the nearest cheap campsite. We settled on a place called Woodhill Campsite at East Runton near to Cromer. It was so cheap in fact that we got up early the next morning, took down the tents and stole away before they came to collect the cash…

We went in August so the weather was quite warm. The tents were set up which took about 2 hours as we had never done it before, it was some task to say the least. They were put up the wrong way round, upside down, inside out, backwards in fact every way except the correct way! In the end it was done, at which point we rushed down to the beach to stand on rocks, jump in the water with our clothes on, cavort with nude ladies (pardon?) and generally make a nuisance of ourselves to all others on the beach.

That evening was spent relaxing after our strenuous activities on the beach. By relaxing I mean supping copious quantities of ale of course in the local hostelries of Cromer. And very relaxing it was too...this was followed by a bag of chips or two and a quiet stagger back to the campsite.

As mentioned earlier, we were up early with thumping headaches to steal away before the rent man came, and we headed back for home, stopping off at Sheringham just up the coast for a quick parking ticket and an ice cream, not forgetting to call in the amusements to play some quick games of Gauntlet and Monaco GP.

The Arrow Trip scenario was now becoming firmly established, however, and having done this trip we were looking a little bit further afield. The next Arrow venture would be also on the east coast but would be longer and a little bit more frenetic than this one.

Thus Scarborough beckoned in 1987.

The sleeping bags discuss camping arrangements the night before the trip..

We've arrived! Now to set up those tents.

I'll just do a small piece to camera.

Don't stare at me when I'm eating!.

Let's just stare at the sea for a bit and wander aimlessly about.

My turn to do a piece to camera on this lovely pier..

Who's going to join me on this here rock then?.

Look I've actually got some money left..

I'm not going to brush my hair today. If I wait another few years it'll have fallen out anyway..
