Nottinghamshire, 1985

This was the one that started it all off. We were supposed to be looking for an arrow which was made of solid gold. Naturally enough we never found it, so with an ancient video camera in hand we ended up motoring around Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire just for fun.

Cromer, Norfolk, 1986

After reminiscing about the search for the original golden arrow and how much fun it had been, we decided upon another outing to celebrate. So we chose somewhere that was fairly close to home, by the sea, and Cromer fitted the bill nicely. We stayed in 2 tents for 1 night at a campsite in East Runton, just outside Cromer.

Scarborough, Yorkshire, 1987

By now the traditional yearly trip was becoming established and this time we sojourned to Scarborough, again stopping in a tent. It rained a lot of course but the habit of having greasy English breakfasts was becoming truly established.

Loch Ness, Scotland 1995

One of the best holidays ever,we hired a boat and sailed on the Loch looking for the Monster. No such luck. Chris was notable by his absence-again! The landlord of the Foyers Hotel wont forget us in a hurry!

Whitby, Yorkshire, 1997

It was back to tents for this one, no Matt this year, plenty of steam trains and gale force winds…

Newquay, Cornwall, 1988

This year it was a four day visit, our longest yet. Highlights included making our way back from the village pub in the dark along a country footpath-interesting after 8 pints of ale…

Newtonstewart, Dumfries and Galloway, 1989

We were one down for this trip which was taken in April-so it was cold! Plenty of nice scenery though…Galloway Forest Park was interesting along with Glen Trool and the Isle of Whithorn.

Anglesey, Wales 1993

No Chris this year, a fairly cold outing to Anglesey, as we went at the end of April, but good nevertheless. A train ride up to the top of Snowdon was a highlight this year.

Tenby, Wales, 1990

A new member, Mike, joined us for the first time on this one, Nic had to drop out because of work commitments, so the number still remained at 4. It was warm too! A good video came out of this trip.

Isle of Wight, 1992

This was a good trip. Great weather and plenty of activities and places to see. Again Nic had work commitments so we were just 4 again. Stuart got ripped off by a train conductor, though and everybody wondered why Mike walked 6 miles and swam for 30 minutes in a freezing sea before 7am everyday!

Hastings, Sussex, 1994

Again, no Chris. John joined for the first time. Found a great pub in Hastings though which had a lock-in which was right up our street!

Boating on River Thames, 1996

Interesting diversion from the usual coastal trips, we hired one of the largest boats on the Thames! No Mike this year, but Matt joined to make the numbers up for the first time.

St Ives, Cornwall, 1998

An excellent trip, because we are getting on a bit now we hired a chalet with all mod cons. Took plenty of photos as well as video, saw lots of places including St Michael's Mount and the Isles of Scilly.

Weymouth, Dorset, 1999

We rented a very nice house for this trip which included a visit to the Channel Islands. This is the year that crab football was introduced.

Boating on the Norfolk Broads, 1991

Our first boating venture! With Nic back in the team the numbers went up to 5. Lots of places were visited with plenty of video shot as well. Windmills were  popular places to visit-for some reason…

Ilfracombe, Devon, 2000

It was a caravan, nay two caravans for this year at a place called Hele Valley. A steam train and a broken van window were highlights this year.

Killarney, Ireland, 2001

A flight to another country! Lots of driving about, lost videotapes and waiting around for cable cars summed up this most enjoyable holiday in this lovely part of the world. Friendly locals too!
